The Rigging Supervisor will work closely with a variety of departments including; R&D, Art, Modelling, Layout and Animation, to develop, implement, maintain and support character and prop deformation rigs for use in both Layout and Animation. The Rigging Supervisor will work closely with these departments to bring our characters to life, defining and creating the best deformation and animation rigs for a wide range of character styles and art directions.


  • Designing and maintaining, with the modeling department, a modeling topology conducive to the storyboarded range of deformations
  • Working closely with Animators to provide and refine an articulation of the full range of expressions and body movement needed to support a character's acting range in the film
  • Following a brief to produce complex production ready rig deformation of a high standard
  • Keep up on current artistic methodologies and on technology trends and tools that best suit the production and the company
  • Designing and maintaining Master Rigs that can be re-used as a basis for articulating similar characters, or applying existing Rigs to newly created character sculpts
  • Brainstorming new techniques and ideas for user interfaces, deformation tools, and character specific rigging solutions
  • Participates in turnover meetings, asset breakdowns, and bidding/re-bidding over the course of the show
  • Supervising/mentoring rigging team and identifying talent/performance within the team to meet show/department needs; skills development and training
  • Ensuring the rigging team meets the shows requirements; determines the technical and aesthetics approaches to hit targets on time while monitoring shot progress
  • Acts as the primarily contact person and is responsible of the department 
  • Works closely with the Production Supervisors in the management of the department, biding the work and creating the schedule based on an approved quota, ensuring it is met during production, casting appropriately to artists
  • Collaborates and keeps a fluid communication relation with other departments 
  • Responsible with Production Supervisor for maintaining crew morale, fostering good working atmosphere and ethics
  • Give guidance to the team, supervise the quality of the work and, works closely with production, in the fulfillment of deadlines 
  • Mentor potential up-and-coming talent to make them grow in the Studio
  • Partner with HR to source and recruit the best industry talent for the department 
  • Acts as an ambassador of the company; has an extensive network in the industry and plays a key role in selling the studio as a first-class working place, maintaining ongoing relationships with key industry players, contributing to the good reputation of Skydance 


  • Over 8 years or more of professional experience in VFX or animation industries
  • At least 4 years of experience as Lead in the animation industry, working in animation features films
  • A strong creative/technical background as proven leader in setting direction for a production and for inspiring and motivating production staff
  • An impressive reel demonstrating attention to facial surface detail, underlying facial anatomy, and credible and organic facial expressions
  • Anatomical knowledge of facial muscles and their function
  • Strong and production proven knowledge of rigging and deformation
  • Strong understanding of both Facial and Figure Anatomy - biped and quadruped
  • Deep understanding in anatomy and muscle dynamics; good eye for aesthetics of body/face deformation
  • Strong English language proficiency
