FX Supervisor

The FX Supervisor is responsible for identifying the effects of the show, bidding them for fulfillment of deadlines, design the effects and supervising the FX team technically and artistically.
 

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the VFX Supervisor and film Director to design the effects from a creative point of view
  • Advanced knowledge of compositing theory, concepts and techniques
  • Provide feedback to FX team and approves all the shots before presenting them to VFX Supervisor and Director
  • Works closely with the Lighting and Compositing Supervisors to include the effects in the shots
  • Coordinate with the FX Leads to keep consistency in the style of the film
  • Keep up on current artistic methodologies and on technology trends and tools that best suit the production and the company
  • Coordinate with CG Sup and R&D Sup to develop and implement solutions for the show using procedural techniques
  • Acts as the primarily contact person and is responsible of the FX department
  • Collaborates and keeps a fluid communication relation with other departments
  • Assign the work to each team member, according to his or her skills
  • Works closely with Production Supervisor for distributing the work to Fx team according to the production schedule, ensuring that it will be finished in the fulfillment of deadlines and with the standard of quality required
  • Partner with HR and the talent team to source and recruit the best industry talent
  • Mentor potential up-and-coming talent to make them grow in the Studio
  • Act as an ambassador of the company; has an extensive network in the industry and plays a key role in selling the studio as a first-class working place, maintaining ongoing relationships with key industry players, contributing to the good reputation of Skydance

Requirements

  • Over 8 years or more of professional experience in VFX or animation industries
  • 3 years of experience as Supervisor or at least 5 years of experience as Fx Lead in the animation industry
  • A strong creative/technical background as proven leader in setting direction for a production and for inspiring and motivating production staff
  • Fluency programming in scripting language: VEX, Python - C/C++ programming knowledge will be given special consideration
  • Deep knowledge of CG with software Houdini, Maya and Arnold; Katana, a plus
  • Strong proficiency in English language
