The Payroll Supervisor will manage the organization’s payroll processes for a high growth multi-division entertainment company, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This position is a member of Corporate Accounting & Finance team and will report to Sr. Director of Accounting & Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits (both standard and voluntary), garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions for exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
  • Gather and examine timesheets for hourly employees to ensure their validity and accuracy, verify any inconsistencies
  • Ensure that compensation for overtime and double time is calculated at the appropriate rate, and that any types of leave are calculated accordingly, if applicable
  • Manage vacation, FMLA leave, and sick leave process and reporting
  • Prepare and assist in confirming that legally mandated and optional deductions have been processed correctly
  • Liaise with HR, Accounting & Finance for on-boarding and off-boarding to ensure changes to benefits are properly and accurately reflected and processed
  • Ensure proper payroll and benefit accounting & compliance and monthly reconciliation with general ledger
  • Assist managing the accuracy of 401(k) enrollment and off-boarding and any contribution changes that are applicable
  • Assist with various payroll audits by gathering records and documentation for auditors
  • Prepare and coordinate distribution of hard copies of W-2s to all current and terminated employees of W-2s in timely manner
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • BS degree in business, finance, accounting or related field
  • 4+ years of experience running corporate payroll
  • Extensive knowledge in payroll & accounting procedures and payroll tax laws & regulations
  • Working knowledge of general payroll tax requirements and understanding of how payroll transactions impact the general ledger
  • Self-motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to operate independently and have the strong desire to work as a member of a team
  • High ethical standards, excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be exceptionally detailed and results orientated
  • Preferred but not required - Certified Payroll Professional designation, HRIS system implementation and/or process improvement experience, multistate / international payroll environment for a growing company
